IIA: Internal Auditing Education Partnership Program (IAEP)

The Internal Auditing Education Partnership (IAEP) program was developed to respond to the growing interest in internal audit education at institutions of higher learning.

The IIA's Academic Relations Committee (ARC) and the Academic Relations Department oversee the IAEP program. The ARC is an international volunteer committee comprised of educators and practitioners whose purpose is to fulfill The IIA's strategic goals and objectives relating to internal audit education.

The IAEP program allows three levels of participation for colleges and universities worldwide based on criteria designed for each level. The three levels are Entry, Partner, and Center for Internal Auditing Excellence.

IAEP Continuum

To be successful, schools must have the ability and the resources necessary to support this effort. IAEP schools work closely with The IIA to develop meaningful internal audit curricula and assist other colleges and universities in establishing similar programs. The success of IAEP member schools demonstrates to other universities that internal audit education is worth the necessary commitment.

Program Requirements

A successful program is a partnership with the school, chapter/affiliate, and The IIA's Academic Relations program. Each partner plays a role in the sustainability of the school's program. Twice a year, the ARC reviews applications from schools interested in being a member of the IAEP program. The ARC will consider applications from schools that:

- Demonstrate high potential and the aspiration to become leaders in internal audit education.

- Identify a "champion" who will drive the IAEP program on campus as the coordinator.

- Provide support of the IAEP program from the department and school officials.

- Partner with a local IIA chapter/affiliate to obtain the best results for the IAEP program.

- Possess the determination to adhere to the program criteria.

- Communicate effectively, orally, and in writing.
