FRI: $50,000 Research Award

Each year, The Fidelity Research Institute will present the Pyramid PrizeSM, a $50,000 award to the author or authors of published applied research that best helps address the goal of improving lifelong financial well-being for Americans. Through the creation of this award, we aim to highlight thought-leading analyses in support of our mission: To advance proven investment theory and understanding of critical financial issues and inspire action through practical solutions to the financial challenges facing individuals, institutions and governments.
The Fidelity Research Institute Pyramid Prize evaluation criteria are based on the following four categories:
Relevance – Directly addressing the goal of advancing lifelong financial well-being for Americans
Significance and Practicality – Potential impact of the presented theories, and practicality of the suggested actions
Conclusiveness and Clarity – Conclusive analysis and clear findings
Quality– Overall quality of the methodology and data sources
The prize is open to all research that fits the criteria and has been published on or after January 1, 2006 in a North American based academic journal. The research must have also been subject to a peer review as a condition of publication. Applications for the prize will be evaluated by the Fidelity Research Institute.
Amount: In addition to the $50,000 unrestricted prize, the author(s) will be brought to Boston to present their research to the Fidelity Research Institute and senior Fidelity executives.

2007 Prize application submission window: January 1, 2007 through September 3, 2007
2007 Prize winner announcement: November 15, 2007
Prize ceremonies: First quarter, 2008
