FHTC: Industry Seed Grant
Proposals are sought for partnership projects between regional high technology industries along the Florida
High Tech Corridor (FHTC) and University of South Florida (USF) faculty. The primary goal of these projects is to attract,
grow, and retain high technology companies in the Florida High Tech Corridor service area.
Florida High Tech Corridor matching funds are specifically designed to expand the research activities of an FHTC
industry partner by providing funds for research collaborations between Industry and USF. While projects may be
proposed in any discipline, applications are particularly encouraged in areas contributing to the development of
the FHTC targeted technology sectors including:
Aerospace
Biotechnology
Information Technologies and Services
Manufacturing Design
Marine Technologies
Medical Products
Medical Technologies
Microelectronics
Nanotechnology
Optic and Lasers
Renewable Energy
Software Development
Simulation and Training
Solar Technology
Telecommunications
Transportation Systems
Amount: Approximately $2,000,000 has been designated for three awards for the current year. Award requirements
and size vary depending on the program. Up to $1,000,000 will be allocated to an annual competitive program
described elsewhere.
Under the USF CONNECT Industry Seed Grant, at least $500,000 is currently allocated for this General Solicitation,
and $500,000 for the SBIR/STTR Phase II Industry External Investment Program described herein. Both awards are
intended to establish new relationships. The Industry Seed Grant program is designed to attract small
technology businesses (< 100 employees) to university-based research projects with more relative Florida
High Tech Corridor support. As a seed program, renewals, if awarded require significant growth in project
size as well as industry cash contribution.
Deadline: No Due Date. Proposals are evaluated until annual funds are fully committed
