Faculty Development Stipends

FORE Faculty Development Stipends are generously funded by a grant from 3M Health Information Systems.

Eligibility

1. Applicant must be a credentialed HIM professional and an active or associate member of AHIMA.

2. Applicant must be a faculty member (full time or 50% part time equivalent teaching load, as defined by your institutional policy) in an accredited HIM associate or baccalaureate program or an approved HIM master's level program.Verification of faculty appointment status is required.

3. Current year FORE Merit Scholarship recipients are ineligible.

4. Individuals are eligible to receive one stipend per calendar year

Eligible Expenses

Application should be for activity planned during the four (4) month period following the expected notification date

Stipends can be used to cover the following types of expenses associated with professional development:

• Registration fees, conference fees, tuition fees or other fees associated with the scheduled activity

• Books or other required supporting materials

• Reasonable travel and loding expenses, if required by and directly related to the funded activity

FORE Faculty Development Stipends are intended to encourage excellence in effective teaching and leadership in areas related to e-HIM (TM). Program goals are to:

Expedite curriculum innovation and development in e-HIM content areas;

Research and develop new methods of teaching, evaluation, and assessment in the HIM learning process;

Support faculty in maintaining the highest standards of knowledge and practice in e-HIM;

Integrate new technologies effectively into the HIM learning process;

Strengthen the capacity of HIM academic programs to address emerging issues in design and implementation of the electronic health record at all levels of healthcare delivery, in support of an electronic health information infrastructure.

Deadline: 2007 Application Deadlines are March 2, July 6, and October 5
