Professional Development Fee

All new MBA students are assessed a $100 non-refundable professional development fee.  In addition to securing the student's place in the entering class, the professional development fee is used throughout the program to support the activities of the Graduate Business Association, equipment and supplies for student use, special seminars and events, subscriptions, publications, guest speakers, refreshments, and occasional receptions and meals.  The professional development fee is in addition to the $35 Comprehensive New Graduate Student fee assessed by the university.

Scholarships

            I am pleased to announce the following scholarships that will be awarded to entering full time graduate students in the College of Business Administration for the Fall 2007 term:

            --- John J. Saunders Memorial Endowed
                        Graduate Fellowship*                         $8,000

            --- Retired Officer Corp. Fellowship*             $3,000

            --- Chester Ferguson Scholarship                   $3,000

            --- F. E. Lykes Foundation Scholarship          $1,000

            --- Don Miller Scholarship                              $1,500

            --- Wachovia                                                   $1,000

            The purpose of the awards is to recognize entering students who show outstanding promise.  The awards will be announced on June 30th and will be payable during the Fall 2007 and the Spring 2008 terms.  Recipients will be expected to register for and complete a minimum of nine credit hours in the Fall and Spring terms with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in graduate coursework.  The annual scholarship luncheon will be held on Friday, August 24th and recipients are required to attend in order to receive the award.

            Applicants must meet the following guidelines:

  1. Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.2
  2. Minimum GMAT score of 500 or GRE score of 1050
  3. Be a full time student fully accepted into the graduate program (Master’s level) in the College of Business Administration
  4. Must be a US citizen.

*John J. Saunders Memorial Endowed Graduate Fellowship
Only 1 scholarship should be awarded.
The recipient must have 1 year of work experience after their bachelor's degree. They must show financial need. The student should also have all or some of the following attributes:
a strong interest in entrepreneurship, be engaged in the community, be involved in non-profit or civic organizations,
and be interested in starting their own business.

*Retired Officers Corporation Fellowship
Student should show financial need, be a US citizen and have a clear connection to the military, i.e., be former military themselves, be in ROTC, or be the child of a military service person who lost his/her life in the line of duty. The scholarship is to provide for tuition and books only.

 

GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

 A limited number of graduate assistantships are available in the College of Business Administration. Assistantships provide part-time (20 hours per week) employment in various academic departments. Assistantships involve an assortment of duties, which include research, teaching and administration. These are only available to full-time students.

Applications are available in the Office of Graduate Studies (BSN 103). However, hiring decisions are made by individual departments.

Assistantships usually carry some fee waivers as a benefit.
