New Admission Requirement – Effective
fall 2007
Admission to the MBA Program is open to all qualified
men and women holding a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited
institution in the United States or from a recognized academic institution
in a foreign country. The admission decision is based on the following:
- Upper level undergraduate GPA (GPA
worksheet) of 3.0 or better (typically the last 60 hours).
- Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score of
500 or higher.
- International applicants from non English-speaking
countries must also have a TOEFL score of 550 or higher on the written
version, a minimum score of 213 on the computer-based test or a 79 on
the internet-based test. Please visit the following website for
additional information on the TOEFL requirement: http://web.usf.edu/iac/admissions/language.html
- Two years of relevant post-baccalaureate work
experience
MBA applicants are required to have at least two years of full-time post-baccalaureate work experience prior to enrollment. This does not need to be business-based, and can include teaching, military service, government experience, programs like Peace Corps, etc.
Applicants are requested to submit a resume, together with a statement
describing their work-related responsibilities and accomplishments. Two
recommendations are required from current and former supervisors.
The average number of
years of work experience for our admitted class is six years, but our
minimum for admission consideration is two. Applicants that do not meet the
two-year minimum requirement but have other substantial experience and would
like to be considered for admission should submit an application together
with an explanation of their experiences and circumstances.
The admissions committee carefully considers
each completed application, with particular attention to work history,
undergraduate performance, recommendations and test scores. Personal
characteristics that add to the diversity of the class may also be
considered.
