James Stock
Frank Harvey Endowed Professor of Marketing

Professor Stock holds BS and MBA degrees from the University of Miami (Florida), and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.  He has previously held faculty positions at the University of Notre Dame (1975-1980), University of Oklahoma (1980-1987), a joint appointment at the Air Force Institute of Technology (1986-1988) and Michigan State University (1987-1989).  From 1989 to 2007, Dr. Stock was Professor of Marketing and Logistics, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL.  In 2008, he was appointed to the position of Frank Harvey Endowed Professor of Marketing at USF. 

Dr. Stock has been the recipient of a University of South Florida Teaching Incentive Program Award for outstanding undergraduate teaching and has received the Outstanding Professor Award from the Graduate Business Association of the College of Business Administration multiple times in recognition of excellence in graduate teaching.  He has been an invited speaker on numerous business and professional programs and has lectured at a number of colleges and universities in Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, Finland, Portugal, Republic of Georgia, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, South Africa, Thailand, and the United States. 

Dr. Stock has published in numerous academic and professional journals.  He is the author or co-author of over 100 publications including books, monographs, articles and proceedings papers.  He is Editor of the Journal of Business Logistics.  Previously, he has served as Editor of the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management and Managing Editor of the Logistics Spectrum.  Dr. Stock is a member of several editorial review boards in the areas of marketing, logistics and supply chain management.  Professor Stock has co-authored several textbook editions, including Strategic Logistics Management, 4th ed., and Fundamentals of Logistics Management, 1st ed.  He is also the author of Development and Implementation of Reverse Logistics Programs and Reverse Logistics, published by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and Product Returns/Reverse Logistics in Warehousing:  Strategies, Policies and Programs, published by the Warehousing Education & Research Council.  He is currently developing two co-authored textbooks, one in supply chain management and the other in logistics management. 

Dr. Stock has received the Armitage Medal (1988) and the Eccles Medal (2003) from SOLE—The International Society of Logistics in recognition of his scholarly and educational contributions to the logistics discipline.  He is active in the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), SOLE—The International Society of Logistics, and the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC).  He has consulted and conducted research for a number of manufacturing and service companies worldwide.  His areas of research interest include reverse logistics/product returns, the marketing/logistics interface, and supply chain management.
