BIO PROFILE
DAVID J. ORTINAU
Dr. Ortinau is currently Professor of Marketing. He received his B.S. in Management from Southern Illinois University, his M.S. in Business Administration from Illinois State University and his Ph.D. in Marketing from Louisiana State University. He was LSU's Marketing Doctoral Consortium Fellow at the Thirteenth Annual AMA Doctoral Consortium, Chicago, Illinois in 1978. His Dissertation focused on Consumers' Post Purchase Satisfaction within a Cognitive Process Framework. He previously taught at Illinois State University and Louisiana University prior to joining the USF faculty in 1979.
Dr. Ortinau's leadership and professional experience is recognized and well respected within the Marketing Discipline; includes a Senior MR Analyst/Director position for a major mid-west marketing research firm and served as the V.P. of Marketing for NNO Marketing Consultants, Inc. Held several executive officer's positions within the Society for Marketing Advances [a.k.a. Southern Marketing Association] and was the Association's 1997 President, and is a standing President and member of the Board of Directors of the SMA Foundation. Over the years, he has interacted with many companies in the private sector and conducted numerous marketing studies on a variety of marketplace topics as well as customer satisfaction and product/service quality assessment studies. With his expertise acknowledged both nationally and internationally, he has presented many seminars on research methods and specific topics associated with consumer satisfaction and service quality issues.
Dr. Ortinau is an active researcher and writer, his contributions have been published in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Health Care Marketing, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Marketing Education and others. In addition, he actively publishes in a variety of professional/educational-based Proceedings. He co-authored a new marketing research textbook titled Marketing Research: Within a Changing Information Environment, 3e published by Irwin/McGraw Hill, 2006. He serves as an editorial board member for the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science (JAMS) and the Journal of Business Research (JBR) as well as an Ad Hoc reviewer for several other journal outlets. His scholarly research is acknowledged both nationally and internationally in the areas of consumer satisfaction and value evaluations/models; services marketing and service quality within selected market segments; marketing education topics/issues and specializes on attitudinal, motivation and value issues.
Dr. Ortinau's teaching interests include Consumer (Buyer) Behavior, Marketing Research, Methods and Measurements, Marketing Management, Services Marketing and Innovativeness of Interactive Electronic Marketing Technologies.
Among his many research, leadership and teaching honors and recognitions, Dr. Ortinau has been inducted into NRI's Who's Who in American Education, Third Edition (1992-93); Marquis' Who's Who in American Education, Fourth Edition (1993-94), Seventh Edition (2005-06); Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, Third Edition (1991-92); Who's Who in the World, Tenth Edition (1990-91), reprinted in the Eleventh (1992-93), Thirteenth (1994-95), Eighteen (1999-00), Twentieth (2002-03) and the Twenty-Third (2005-06) Editions; Who's Who in Advertising, First Edition (1990-91), reprinted in the Third Edition (1992-93); and Who's Who in the South/Southwest, Twenty-Second Edition (1991-92), reprinted in the Twenty-Third (1992-93), Twenty-Sixth (1995-96), Twenty-Ninth (1999-00) and Thirty-First (2002-03) Editions. Most recently, he was inducted into Marquis' Who's Who in the Media and Communications, First Edition (1998-99) and received JAMS' "Outstanding Reviewer Award for 1997-2000".
