James E. Blanton
Professor

Dr. Blanton is Professor of Management Information Systems in the Department of Information Systems and Decision Sciences of the College of Business Administration at the University of South Florida. His educational background includes: BS (Physics) from Georgia Institute of Technology, MBA (MIS) from The University of Georgia, and PhD (MIS) from The University of Georgia. Dr. Blanton’s major research interests include social and organizational impacts of information technology (IT) and issues concerning IT professionals, such as professional development and competency. He has over fifty articles and papers concerning these topics in publications including Management Information Systems Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Communications of the ACM. Dr. Blanton has taught managerial-oriented MIS courses in several academic programs including undergraduate MIS, MS in MIS, MBA, Physicians MBA, Executive MBA, and Doctoral. In addition, he has served on fourteen completed dissertations, nine as supervisor.
