Biography:

Dr. "B" is a tenured Full Professor of information systems at USF College of Business. He received his Ph.D and MBA degrees from University of Houston, and M.S. and B.S. degrees from Indian Institute of Technology (if you never heard of this school, check out this CBS 60 minutes exclusive on IIT). Before coming to USF, he held faculty appointments at Arizona State University and University of Colorado at Denver.

Dr. B's research focuses on the adoption and diffusion of technological innovations, specifically focusing on post-adoptive behaviors such as technology continuance, assimilation, and resistance. Lately, he has also been studying healthcare informatics and knowledge management. In a research career spanning 12 years, Dr. B. has published about 40 papers that have received over 700 citations in Google Scholar, including two papers cited over 200 times each (citation count is a measure of "research impact"). His research has been published in eight of the top ten academic journals in the information systems discipline, including MIS Quarterly (three times), Information Systems Research, Journal of MIS (four times), Decision Sciences, European Journal of Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, IEEE Transactions, and Information & Management. Dr. B has also served on the editorial board of MIS Quarterly, the highest-ranked academic journal in the information systems discipline, for four years, and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), its premier academic conference, for three years. Dr. B currently teaches a doctoral seminar on Research Methods, and undergraduate/graduate courses on Database Management and Electronic Commerce.

Dr. B is originally from Kolkata (previously called Calcutta), a bustling metropolis of 15 million people in eastern India (the sixth largest city in the world). His hobbies include listening to rock music, travelling, and spending time with his son Momo. He has lived in India, New York, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, and Florida, and travelled to numerous places including China, Tahiti (South Pacific), Kashmir (India), Australia, and California. His greatest regret in life is that he narrowly missed an opportunity to visit Antartica! More information about Dr. B can be obtained by clicking the links on this page.
