The Department of Finance at the University of South Florida is searching for a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-earning position of assistant, associate, or full professor. Required qualifications include: Ph.D. in finance or economics (ABD acceptable if degree completed by December 2008); evidence of potential to publish high-quality research in theoretical or empirical finance in top academic journals; strong commitment to teaching in graduate and undergraduate programs; and ability to immediately contribute to the doctoral program. In addition, strong interpersonal skills are preferred. The position is subject to funding.

The University of South Florida is a comprehensive metropolitan state university on Florida's west coast, which serves more than 44,000 students in nine colleges on four campuses in Tampa, Lakeland, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota. Among the top research universities in the state, USF offers more than 200 degrees at the undergraduate, graduate, specialty, and doctoral levels, including the doctor of medicine. The faculty number more than 2,000.

USF is the second largest university in the Southeast and among the 10 largest universities in the United States. The main campus is located in Northeast Tampa on 1,700 grassy acres. The concentration of high-technology and financial services companies in this area affords many contacts and consulting opportunities. The Tampa Bay area is consistently ranked as one of the most attractive places to live in the United States. The College of Business Administration offers degrees in six functional areas to more than 6,800 students. The College offers a traditional MBA program as well as Executive programs for business professionals and physicians. There are more than 600 undergraduate students who major in finance. The Department of Finance also has a Ph.D. program with 13 students at various stages of completion. Faculty members in the department are active in a variety of research and teaching areas. The research produced by current faculty members has been published in top academic journals, including Journal of Finance, Journal of Business, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Financial Analysts Journal, and Journal of International Business Studies.
