Uday S. Murthy
Professor and
Quinn Eminent Scholar
of Accounting Information Systems
Uday S. Murthy is the holder of the Quinn Eminent Scholar Chair in the School of Accountancy. He holds a Ph.D. degree from Indiana University and an MBA from Drexel University. Prior to joining USF, Professor Murthy was on the faculty at Texas A&M University. He is qualified as a Chartered Accountant in India and worked at Price Waterhouse & Co. in Mumbai, India. Professor Murthy’s research interests are in data modeling and design methodologies for accounting systems, auditing computer-based systems, expert systems, and group support systems in accounting. His research has been published in a number of journals including Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory,
Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of Information Systems, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, and International Journal of Auditing. From 1999 to 2001, Professor Murthy served as coeditor of the Journal of Information Systems, the leading academic journal for accounting information systems research. Professor
Murthy has received a number of research and teaching awards,
including the 2004 USF College of Business Administration
"Outstanding Research Achievement Award," the Grant Thornton USF
Faculty Research Award for 2005 and 2006, and the Texas A&M
University Association of Former Students "Distinguished Achievement
Award in Teaching" for 2000.
